He's looking at the termination list; honestly, he isn't surprised, and his face is pretty impassive, considering his mother was just incinerated.]

Just because you knew it would happen, that doesn't mean you're not allowed to be upset about it. [Which could be said to her too. But she's Kate. She hates showing weakness or letting other people know there's something wrong]
