[ There is an ungodly large winged snake poking its way around the rear-facing side of a few houses. It slithers in and out of the buildings raised on wooden stilts, forked tongue flicking out every few seconds. It seems to be homing in on something, and the red-cloaked man following behind it is patiently letting the creature track whatever has gotten its attention.

Eventually the creature locates the source of the disturbance; the porch and immediate area of an abandoned house. Even a few days later there are still splashes of blood where it had pooled deepest, now a rusty flaked brown colour. The serpent noses the traces, returns to its master's side with confusion, then back to the stains with an unhappy hiss. ]

What has you so anxious, Diabound?

[ One sandaled foot scuffs the dusty ground as though looking for evidence, before a sort-of familiar person crouches down to rub the kaa's scales reassuringly. There was an alarming and surprisingly distinct distress-confusion-grief-relief vibe coming through his soul and it was ( ... )

[Oh, back here again. She hadn't meant to, but after hours and hours of idly wandering around, coupled with the fact that the place had its limits of going too far, there wasn't really any choice.

Blocking what had recently happened from her mind (or trying to), she ventures on forth, not noticing that she's about to bump right into him.]

[ A flurry of scales and wings blocks her path as Diabound coils in front of her, preventing the accidental collision. The motion gets Bakura's attention and he stops, surprised and wary at the sudden intrusion. ]

Who are you?

[Snapping out of her thoughts, she looks up and-

OH HOLY SHIT, WHY IS THERE A BUTT-FUCK HUGE SNAKE]

U-uh...Fujino. Asagami Fujino.

[ Bakura comes over, stepping around the kaa not a care in the world and looks closely at Fujino what is personal space ]

A strange name... and look how pale you are. You are not of Egypt.

Reluctantly steps back because you're too close, good sir.]

What a stupid thing to call a kingdom.

[ he turns around and extends a hand towards the serpent, who went back to nosing around the scene of the crime ]

Enough, Diabound. There's nothing there for you to eat.

Kingdom? I don't think it's-

[Tilts her head slightly to look over at the snake.]

...Diabound?

[ Diabound obediently backs off but slithers it's wide coils around Fujino instead -- not touching her, though they would if she tried to move more than a few inches in any direction. ]

Yes. A fitting kaa for the great Thief King, don't you think?

[ the wind picks up, blowing sand and grit at them, and he irritably he lowers the beige cloth hood to shake it out ]

[She tenses up while her heart starts beating faster. Best to play along for the time being, even if she knows she'll be able to get out of it quick with her eyes.]

I...I suppose. Though, I don't think there's anything of value to steal here.

No, it does not seem so.

[ Bakura looks faintly irritated at the kaa's behaviour and barks a quick, Sedjem-i, Diabound! which causes the serpent to duck its head and unravel from around Fujino and go slithering contritely to the thief's side. From his cloak he takes two apples, probably looted from the house. ]

Only these.

[ he holds one out to her ]

[boy this sure seems like a metaphor for something

Tentatively takes the apple, though she doesn't eat it yet.]

...thanks. [Awkward pause.] Thief King? Why the title?

Because I am the greatest thief, of course.

[ he bites into his apple, but his eyes don't leave hers ]

And one day very soon I'll even steal the Pharaoh's life.
