Whatever, Jareth is strutting around pleased as punch, smiling into the camera, looking charming and nothing but proud over his fancy, almost glittery black wings. Though a curious thing is that his primary feathers are almost white.]I do hope everyone is making sense of their little gifts. Quite luxurious

I...I know we haven't really spoken since you arrived here, but I just...wanted to let you know that I'm still incredibly grateful. For what you did for me. Y-you know. When we were in your kingdom. That was...really. Magnanimous of you.

[He smiles weakly.]

...I don't want to waste your time or anything, so. I mean. Th-that's all I really wanted to say. I hope you're not...suffering, or anything.

How very polite of you to thank me again, Matthew. My lands are quite treacherous, and I am truly apologetic for you running afoul of such things.

I have been faring more than well. Being more than human has it's perks, namely, I do not need to eat, or sleep...among other things.

[He pauses.]

Tell me, dear one: what is your opinion on the matter of honesty?

It's...it's okay. It wasn't your fault.

I'm glad to hear that you're doing well.

[Matthew seems to relax just a little bit, his smile gaining a bit of strength.]

...I think it's important. I mean...I try to be honest with people, if I can. Especially people that I care about, and people who take the time to care about me.

[Jareth smiles back, though there is an odd feeling of....something. What is that feeling? Probably guilt, he wagers, simply because Matthew was so hapless and rather stupid, at times...but he still was very sweet to him in his owl form. He really needed to stop letting his owl feelings bleed into his real ones.]

Of course, as hopefully we all do. But do you believe that, if given the chance, a loved one should always be truthful? Even if the truth will do nothing but harm them, and being ignorant of it will not negatively affect them whatsoever?

[Matthew hesitates, looking just a little uncomfortable, now.]

...I don't...I mean. I think you should try to be. It's...it's really hard to, sometimes, though. It took me a really long time to tell Lucas the truth about some things. And it was really hard to tell him those things when I did, but it...I don't know. I felt better, afterward.

I think it just kind of...helps clean your soul up a little, you know?

But is that not selfish?

To tell a painful, pointless truth merely to relieve the load of guilt of one's back?

I am not assigning this to your situation--merely treating it as hypothetical.

You and Lucas are still close, then?

I feel better knowing that other people are being honest with me, too. I think it's nothing but a good thing. I mean...it's easier to forgive somebody for telling you the truth, even if it hurts, than it is to forgive somebody for lying to you, even if it was just to help you.

...Y-yeah. We're still close.

[He looks a bit sheepish.]

And if there was a guarantee..? A guarantee that this lie would never come to light, no one would ever know, if you kept the lie to yourself--
