John Watson - Case No. 0023 - [Video] - The Blogger's Finger

Nov 08, 2011 06:47

Not amusing.

[He holds up one hand, his left, which only seems to have three fingers and a thumb.]

Has anyone seen a left index finger? Or...

[He glances off screen and sighs.]

A bloody right arm?

[Komui appears, looking far healthier, far more alert and far more noseless than the last time he talked to John. A lock of hair has been pulled down the centre of his forehead and tied round the bridge of his glasses to keep them in front of his eyes]

Doctor! Long time, no see. I haven't found any of those parts yet but I'll keep an eye out. Have you found any noses?

[How... Odd. They sort of had this epic yelling match last time.]

Komui? You're looking really well. And no, just woke up. I'll have a look about though.

I ought to, in the two days I vanished I spent three months back home and came back two years younger. I'm as fit as an overworked fiddle.

I-- What? Two years younger? Do you remember-- Well yes you must to know me but-- I--

I'm really confused.

The Doctors sometimes like to freshen us up by dumping memories of our original lives in our brains and modifying our bodies to match. In reality, this took them two days. Physically, I'm thirty years old and have never gone through any of this torture. Mentally, I've experienced thirty years back home and nearly three years here, though the memories here and home run in tandem, rather than linearly.

If you want confusing, try experiencing it.

I remember you, though the memories are patchy. I also remember tricking you out of quite a bit of medication. That was a nasty little trick on my part. My resetting has cured my craving, but I'm going to be avoiding that particular type of painkiller from now on.

I uh--

[Despite everything he's seen and been through, John has trouble wrapping his head around this.]

I'm glad you've... Broken the habit? Sort of?

I've been broken of it, but I think I'll try not to test my willpower more than I have to.

If I ever do ask for anything of that sort feel free to slap me a few times, though try not to break the glasses.
