[Grr John.]

What in the name of God just happened?

[You wouldn't want to either if you'd shed as many tears as he had in the past two or three days.]

Nothing. Nothing happened.

[She frowns deeply, but doesn't argue. Perhaps it's the gas finally sinking in.]

If you say so.

I do. I'm still me. I'm still... functioning. Mostly. It's just...

[hard to lose your friends one by one.]

a nightmare, Remilia.

You find yourself mostly unaffected?

[She pauses.]

Nightmares always end. The sun has to rise and wake you up, eventually.

Having trouble focusing, and my memory's getting spotty in some places. Could just be a lack of sleep, though. Better off than [Jade] some others.

I hope so. I think I remember a movie about an unending nightmare...

Maybe you should just get some sleep. It may not seem like the best idea at the moment, but it would benefit in the long run. [Says the creature of the night. Who is technically able to stay up several nights in a row without being affected and has been taking advantage of that. But the sentiment's still there.]

A movie, hmm...

No. Can't. I'll wake up and be like everyone else. Gotta keep focus. [He's audibly gritting his teeth now. CAN'T SLEEP. SLEEP IS THE DEMONS.]

If anything, it's only affecting you more that you're up and straining yourself.

Technically the chemical works at the same pace no whether he is awake or asleep, Remi.

[ There's a moment's pause as she's in deep thought, as if trying to remember something. Eventually she disregards it, turning to look at all the strange symbols in the book in front of her. ]

[He's a little on the paranoid side, Patchy. Forgive him.]

...And how are you faring? Did the bought time do you any good, or...?

[ She looks up, slightly confused. Oh. Right. She had been talking to Remi who had been talking to John. ]

The thing...? Oh. Right. As far as I can tell it's worked. Slightly. Not as well as I had thought. I'm lucid enough to know that much, but it's... fuzzy. This thing we're talking about.

...You're going too then, huh Patchouli.

[He's kind of started to get used to this now.]

[ The pained look that crosses Patchouli's face is one of honesty. She knows she's losing it, but she can't admit it. Not yet. ]

I'm fighting it as best as I can. I won't stop working until I've found a countermeasure.
