[008]Barbara Gordon[Video]

[When the video starts Barbara is standing in the closet, sliding a bundle onto the top shelf and then putting a folded blanket on top of it. She steps back and looks at the hiding spot, making sure the bundle isn't visible. There's a needle and some thread visible on her desk when the device is, like she had been sewing something before the feed ( Read more... )

Mr. Joker or whatever, right? Yeah, I've been watching. We gotta be really careful about what we let out on the network]

Joker, yes. I probably don't need to tell you this but any reference made to the capes on the network from now on needs to be locked so he can't see it.

How about just locking everything? I don't trust that guy as far as I can throw him. [Which is actually really far, but Alfred tends to forget that] You have any personal experience with him?

That would be the logical way to do things. But at the same time, we can't really expect everyone to just lock everything they put on the network. A lot of them don't even know how to do so. [A pause] Unless we just went ahead and made a filter against him and gave the code out.

I do, yeah. He shot a couple in front of their son and then took both me and the kid to an abandoned amusement park. I got the kid out but then I had to deal with Joker. There's no way of knowing if this is the same Joker but...so far everything about him seems the same. Maybe a tiny bit crazier than the one I'm used to.

...shit. [America goes pale just from hearing the story, looking away immediately] That's just wrong.

That's not even the worst thing he's done. There are things I've been told about that haven't even happened for me yet that top that. Needless to say, he's not a good man.

Yeah, I'm kinda getting that. Man, why do they feel the need to bring in jerks like him, huh? It's not like we don't have enough crap to deal with, and then we have a sociopathic clown on top of that? Way unfair.

If I had to come up with an explanation? They think it's funny. They like watching us squirm. In fact, they're probably reading all of this right now and laughing. He'd get along great with the staff here, I think.

Watch him be of the staff here all along, just to mess with everyone's head.

As horrifying as that thought is, it wouldn't surprise me. I wouldn't put it past the staff here or the Joker.

Right? Oh, man, I don't wanna think about it anymore. Think of something cheerful. Like, like, puppies! Or pizza. Or clowns.

...no, not clowns. I hate clowns, and that freak isn't helping!

Damn it. That didn't work.

I'm not really in the mood to try to be positive, sorry. [She's pretty stressed right now. This isn't like dealing with Joker in Gotham. This is much more dangerous]

At least he's been quiet since reset. Small favors, I guess.

You can be positive and realistic at the same time, you know.

Is he just stalking people, or what?

Sometimes reality doesn't call for positivity.

Probably. That sounds like a way he'd spend his time. Stalking people, trying to get an idea of what their weak spot is. He does that. And then he tries to manipulate that weak spot. Or maybe, if we're lucky, he's comatose. Maybe they'll even terminate him but that's probably not very likely.

Maybe yours doesn't. I think that's the wrong way to think about it.

At the rate they like to torture us? Hell no they ain't terminating him. We'll just watch for like, suspicious behavior. People saying stuff they wouldn't.

Then our realities are very different.

That's all we can do at this point.
