Sep 21, 2011 08:20

[the video feed flickers on and off, but the one thing that's clear is it's showing varying parts of a scowling blonde, one arm wrapped around part of the metal bedframe in 39D that she's somehow partially destroyed already, despite the fact that she's petite, has only been here a few hours, and is currently trying not to float to the ceiling ( Read more... )

'Have you received the text link yet?' Misaka questions to make sure she wont bother you by sending it again.

[It seems Misaka is one of the few people who have the ability to not float away, and is standing perfectly content.]

Nope. [Heather watches her curiously]
How the heck are you doing that?

'Misaka can control and generate electricity, which in turn allows her to magnetize herself to a surface,' Misaka explains.

[ Text Link]

'This should be of use to you,' Misaka sends the write up about the Facility.

[Heather doesn't really know what to do with the text link, but there's a 'save' option, and she chooses it. She'll deal with all that later]

You can control electricity? [now Heather's intrigued]

'Thats correct,' Misaka nods. 'Misaka can generate up to 50,000 volts, though in this Facility it is limited to 25,000 volts,' Misaka adds onto her explanation. 'Would you like a demonstration?'

Well yeah... [Heather is pretty excited about this, now] That'd be pretty awesome.

[Misaka holds up her hands, and an arc of electricity forms between them, without harming herself.]

'Misaka can also do a few more things then this, such as check a persons bio-electricity and their vitals much like a machine can,' Misaka explains that her ability can extend to her even acting like a heart monitor.

[Heather raises an eyebrow at that, smiling slightly]

Okay that's... kinda the coolest thing I've ever heard. Tell me some more about it.

'Misaka can also hack into electronic devices, power or charge them as well... Almost anything within the realm of possibility Misaka could theoretically do, though it ultimately depends on her Personal Reality,' Misaka explains again.

Geez. [Heather's giving her her full attention now, which is no small feat on Misaka's part considering that Heather is a teenager and therefore usually has her mind on about fifty things at once]

How does all that work?

'Where Misaka comes from, Academy City produces espers by using brain altering drugs along with hypnosis, which allows esper powers to manifest, though not all are the same,' Misaka explains that different people manifest different abilities at different levels.

That's pretty awesome. I've got a little bit of ESP myself. [she grins] Not enough to... ya know... do anything. Who decided to start that whole thing? And you know... is it nice, or inhumane?

[Heather's curious by nature and hey, anything to take her mind off of being transported to a strange world]

'... That depends on your viewpoint of the matter,' Misaka shakes her head. 'As for who started it, Misaka isn't sure herself, though it has been going on for awhile.'

So it's like... everybody sees it different, then? [Heather shifts her grip on the bedframe] Or something?

'Most people see it as perfectly humane, and for the most part it is,' Misaka starts cautiously. 'However, there are inhumane experiments that go on.'

So there are inhumane ones, then? [that brings back bad memories and she shivers slightly]

Why do people with power feel like they gotta make innocent people into lab rats?
