File 010 | Bucky Barnes [Video + Private Texts]

Aug 09, 2011 14:55

Seems like something out of a terrible movie, doesn't this whole mess? I notice someone has already put up a post about having set up a safe zone. If space and supplies get to be at a premium there, my entire suite is similarly cleared. Minus the magic wards, but guarded by a few guys who know a thing or two about beating back threats. [Namely ( Read more... )

Would I be able to make use of your facilities? The rafters are my preferred spot, but in some areas they are lacking.

I'm assuming you haven't taken ill or tried to get near anyone who has? The first time anyone shows symptoms, I'm tossing them out, as fair warning.

If you did not, I would not wish to come into an enclosed space under your control.

Of course. But it stands to be repeated, just in case anyone decides to be a bleeding heart.

Understood.

If he hall is clear, I shall be coming down.

[Soon enough, there's a sharp rap at the door of the suite]

[On the other side of the door, you can hear the noise of a lot of large objects being shoved or pulled away, and when Bucky opens the door, it's just barely wide enough to peek out at first; he checks to make sure it's who it should be, and takes a moment to check for any obvious signs of disease before he opens it wide enough for someone to slip in - the door won't open any farther because of the barricade of... well, whatever heavy they could get that wasn't bolted down or that they could get unbolted.]

C'mon, hurry up. [Forgive the brusqueness, he's in soldier-mode.]

[Folken slips in, bending slightly to get the top of his large, white wings through the door. He immediately turns to help with reassembling the barricade]

There were no zombies in the hallway, but there is a chance one may have followed me from the recreation hall.

[As soon as he's in, Bucky is checking the hallway visually and then shoving the door closed and starting to move the mass of heavy stuff in front of it again.]

If you were, we'll beat them back at the door. It's an effective bottleneck, keeps them from coming in en masse if worse comes to worst.

[The piling goes quickly with two working. When it's done, Folken steps back, and unslings a sheet-wrapped bundle from around his middle]

Is your bathroom free? I would prefer to cleanse myself should any infection have touched me in the last few days.

Yeah, it should be free. So far no word on whether hot showers seem to actually disinfect, but it can't hurt. [He's been paying attention to the network as much as he can for any new discoveries on the virus. There haven't been many with the medics taking ill, but...]

The infection could be in the water itself, if they are not cleansing it thoroughly after it passes through the drains.

[Still, that doesn't stop Folken from disappearing into the bathroom.

He eventually emerges again, shaved, clean and dressed in fresh clothing.]

If it was in the water filtration systems, we'd all be shambling zombies by now. I don't think they want it spreading that fast, or what would be the point? Assuming the infected won't prey on each other. [It makes sense, anyway. Bucky just returns to watching the door with that same anxious energy he's been full of since this started.]

[Folken sits in the common room, pulling out a bottle of yellow oil and a cloth. He begins oiling the brass tendons of his right arm]

True, that would not draw out the experience so much. If they wished to break us for battle these tests are inefficient. They derive a sadistic pleasure in watching how long we suffer.

[He watches Bucky watching the door, taking a measure of the man]

You were a soldier before you came here. One who's known the battlefield.

[That does catch his interest a bit, the workings of the other's arm. Well, they had been meaning to compare prosthetic arms...] Exactly. They've got a whole week to account for. Likely they're hoping a pocket of people will remain uninfected and survive, for the conflict it'll cause. Sadistic is... well, a bit of an understatement from what I've seen.

[The next comment makes him glance over, only slightly surprised that he picked up on that. Then again, every single movement of Bucky's screamed 'soldier' if you knew what to look for.] Born and bred, all my life. You picked up on it, I'm guessing you have a similar background?
