| Two Cabbages | Tohru Adachi | (Accidental Video)

Mar 31, 2011 20:00

[Hey, Facility. Here's something very rare. Adachi accidentally turned his phone, and he's broadcasting his freakout from talking with Stein. However, you can only hear him and not see him because he threw his phone down.]

Son of a fucking bitch!

[After a few moments, Adachi's face comes into view. His hair's twisted and in even more of a mess ( Read more... )

[Oh, damn it, just what he needs.] I suppose this is how you get off. Well, you're not getting in my room.

If I told you I could pick locks, how loud do you think you would scream?

Well, guess what? I'm not going to scream. I had a guy come by and seal my door.

And how would that guy react if I told him what you told me, I wonder.

Actually even better than that, why don't we make a little deal?

..... Goddamn it.

What do you want from me, then?

Simple enough. If I give you an order - it won't involve surgery; you're not that interesting, sorry - I expect you to follow it. And I want... [Stein worries his bottom lip slightly, making sure it's not so obvious that it looks obvious, but obvious enough to make it look like he's thinking hard about his demands] I want you to stay away from my students. If I catch you talking to them in a way that could even be considered slightly malicious, I will end you. Understood?

I'd much rather this didn't get bloody. Or chatty. [Especially considering in a lot of ways, Stein knows that it's his word against Adachi's and he's not in very good standing with people right now.]

You look crazy, you admit to performing surgery on people, and yet your first thought is to protect your students.

But what exactly did he say, I wonder? Did I seal off the door of a regular old cop who was worried for his safety, or have I gotten rusty?

Maka trusts you. Is there a good reason I should?

Of course it is. They're mine and if anyone is going to do anything to them, it damn well better be me. And Maka trusts me because I'm a very good friend of her father's. You could even consider me her mentor, if you wanted.

I'd tell you, but he agreed to my demands, and I see no reason to not hold up my end of the bargain. But I will say this: Don't trust that guy. He's an asshole.

Hmm. So the small town cop isn't exactly what he seems.

Well, if you hadn't gathered already, I helped him out with the door. He puts on a good act, and he seemed legitimately scared. I didn't sense any magic on him, is he just a psychopath?

His door is now going to be about ten times harder to break down by physical force, and you'll get a nasty electrical shock if you try. The room itself is a null zone to anyone who doesn't get let in, magic will be much harder if the wards are active.

I make it a policy of mine never to make a lock I don't have the key to, though. If something goes wrong on his side of the bargain... Tell me first. Things will be a lot simpler without those wards to deal with.

My best guess is that he's a sociopath, yes.

But like I said, as long as he holds up his end of the deal, there's no reason for me to kill him, or break down his door, or tell anyone what he's done.

If he doesn't, though... I'll make sure I come to you before I start fucking him up.

Looks like I'm going to have to be more careful who I trust with my help. I guess it never occurred to me that a regular old maniac would wind up here.

Let him feel safe behind his door for now. He must know I can undo what I've done, or if not I'll let it drop some point in the future when I'm talking to him. Maybe that'll help keep his nice face on.

There's plenty of us here, I'm sure. The rest of you just need to figure out where to look. Or how to look, I should say.

Aren't you worried that might make him resent you? It's probably safer for you to just assume that his nice face is all he is. I've dealt with people like this before; as soon as they think their persona has been compromised, they lash out.

Takes one to know one, hmmm? I have my soulgazes, but I prefer not to throw that around too often. It's a give and take thing where I'm from, not like what Maka does. When I want to look into someone's soul, they get a nice peek into mine as well.

That'd be a sight to see. Don't get me wrong, it's against everything I know to underestimate a mortal human, but he has no access to firearms. If he did, I might be concerned, but even for a maniac, a normal human going toe to toe with me would be a losing proposition.

Also, indulge me a moment of curiosity. I know you cut on Darc, otherwise his little boyfriend wouldn't have put up the bloody posters in the first place, and he wouldn't be so pissed at you. Why him, though? He seems like a fairly dangerous guy to pick as an unwilling subject.

Don't feel like you need to avoid staring at my soul to protect yourself then; Maka and I have the same ability, so I can sneak a peek just as much as you can.

I guess it's hard for me to imagine him as completely normal, but I suppose it's quite possible.

He wasn't particularly unwilling at the time. But regardless, he's interesting and I wanted to learn more about him. I didn't know he had a boyfriend though. I guess that explains his silly little reaction when I made a crack about him being willing to come to my suite only because I was female at the time.

By that I mean, human. Not a wizard, not a god, not a soul-peeping doctor. He doesn't even have any weapons.

Not unwilling? Darc? I somehow get the feeling that Darc is just unwilling about everything, why would he volunteer to let you open him up?

You didn't hear that from me, by the way. Darc's rather touchy about that fact, as you probably witnessed.

Guess I wasn't the only person made a fool of by a crafty genderswitched guy, huh?
