Audio/Text--because that's how Jack starts out. ^^ scarygoodtime March 30 2011, 05:06:04 UTC
There's a city here? I mistook this place for a Town at first, but the write up never mentioned a city! Nor has anyone I've talked to...

Could you tell me more please? I'm one of the new arrivals; my name's Jack.

Yes! It is a city of cans and bits of plaster and various scavenged things.

But I suppose nobody would mention it; I mostly keep to myself here focusing upon my city! ...In all honesty of course it is simply a fake town of made up citizens, but it is fun regardless.

[Audio/Text]--works for me. Better impression for Jack this way too.^^ scarygoodtime March 30 2011, 05:11:22 UTC
Oh...I think I get it. I was kind of hoping it might be a real Town, but I'm glad you're enjoying yourself none the less. Thank you for the explanation!

You are quite welcome. But yes, regrettably it is not a "real" town, and is only pretend.

I'm fairly sure there are those who would argue I'm not from a real 'Town' either, so don't worry about it. I'm glad it's fun for you--and it's clearly important to you as well.

Yes it is! But you have perked my curiosity sir! What exactly do you mean by a town that is not a town?

OH it's very much a Town. Have you ever wondered where Holidays come from? I'm from a Town that is responsible for one of those holidays, Halloween Town. I'm given to understand there are those, likely, who don't believe in the various Towns, but I've seen their holiday doors. I've visited Christmas Town, so they do exist.

[have a noise of confusion that probably is something like BLUH in text] Holiday? I'm afraid I'm unfamiliar with the concept of a "holiday".

[That 'bwah?' noise is returned.]

You've never had a holiday? Ever? ...A holiday is a celebration. An occasion for people to gather, and have fun.

Oh. Well I am sort of familiar with the concept then? Something then along the lines of a scheduled party or what have you?

Something like that, often having its roots in religious rituals, although many are celebrated secularly nowadays. Where I'm from, we're responsible for putting on Halloween every year. It's one of the holidays.

And what exactly is this...Hallow een of which you speak? Your town is made of Halloween?

Well, no. Halloween is a holiday, which originated as a way to mark the night when the spirit world and the real world are closest in boundaries. It has its roots in various religions, but today is celebrated mostly as a festival of fun scares and candy, mischief and costumes, and spooky goodness. It's on October 31.

That sounds very confusing! What exactly do you mean by spooky, and costumes?

Costumes include dressing up, usually as something you're not. Like say, a little girl pretending to be a fairy princess.

Spooky means something that inspires fear--something that is frightening.

Well both of those things are things that are odd and also somewhat interesting in my opinion!
