Uh, I was, um. Already blind when I made that post, and the person who did it was still after me so, I couldn't get anyone else involved.

I know you would have come, but he's different Vriska. He can't be killed or even fought by someone who isn't from his world.

He can't be-[well, for how much she's been saying lately that she's very much not from Maka's world, it wouldn't be a good plan to start arguing that point in the other direction. hrm. she cuts herself off.]

Don't worry about it. Just. Don't do something like that again, and maybe I'll bring that book back and read some of it to you or something.

"Better" is a funny word. I'm closer to normal than I was. But better isn't the word I'd use. But hey, guess who doesn't want to get into that! It's me.

Look, I'm going to put on my rocket shoes and I'll try not to crash into anything on my way there. I'll read you a chapter or something. Like a lusus and her charge.

[She laughs a little at the roundabout way that's said.] Okay, I won't ask, but I'm still happy you're up to hanging out.

You have rocket shoes? Thanks, that would be really great! [Pause.] What's a lusus?

...Like a human guardian. A parent, I think the word is? I don't know. Look, I'll be over in a couple minutes. Don't try to find anything until I get there. I don't care how well you know your room, you're only going to get hurt.

Oh! Tsubaki-chan's room, don't forget! I'll ask her to text you the number right now. [And she does, so Vriska knows where to go. It's probably best Maka not say it out loud.]

I promise I'll survive without injury until you get here. [She wants to argue that she isn't that bad, but her current position sort of speaks for itself.]

Tsubaki. Okay. [she remembers her initial meeting with Tsubaki being full of embarrassment. hopefully that won't happen this time.] I'll be there as soon as I can.

[which she is, and with the book, too. fortunately she's dealt with blind people before, so she has learned to announce herself, among other things. like to not walk into a room with the rocket boots still activated like she's some kind of iron man.]

[But Maka's already at the door opening it as Vriska speaks as if she'd known she was there.]

Hey. [She grins, opening the door wider to allow her friend in.]

[unexpected! but not totally. she's also grown accustomed to blind people being way more perceptive than they have any right to be. she takes a couple cautious steps in, bracing herself on the door frame.]

Hey. So. Care explaining just how you went blind? Because I'm pretty sure whoever you were fighting wasn't carrying around a sun.

[Maka nods, keeping her eyes on Vriska's chest the whole time.]

The man who attacked me can become intangible. He was trying to take my eyes so he...[She flinches at the memory, getting creeped out just thinking about it.]

He was going to pull them out. I was able to stop him before he could, but...there was already damage done.

[her eye goes wide for a second. she's heard some pretty gruesome things before, but that one's... well, that one's up there.]

Jesus, Maka. I don't know anything about human eyes, but I guess you're going to recover fast? I mean, shit. You'd better. I have too many blind friends already, and I'm not forming a club.

[she has one blind friend.]

Mmm, luckily he was stopped before he could cause permanent damage. I was told I'll heal up in a few weeks! And my eyes are a little beyond human I guess you could say. I can't see anything normal but...[And she lifts a hand, placing one finger lightly in the center of Vriska's chest.]

I can still see here. It's an ability I have from my world, but it's even rare there. I can see souls.

You have blind friends here?

[she's weirded out for a second by the touching, and sort of shrinks back a bit, but. souls. that's interesting.]

You can see souls? Really? Well I guess it's good to know I still have one. That kind of dispels a bunch of rumors right off the bat! [hah hah. nervous laughter.] Anyway. Yeah, I have blind friends. Or, um, one of them. Terezi. I don't know if you've met her. She's the one that types with numbers?

[She withdraws her hand as easily as she'd moved it, and nods, listening.]

Everyone has a soul. [She smiles in an encouraging way, but doesn't ask. She's never looked deeply at Vriska's soul out of respect for her friend's privacy.]

I haven't met her. I actually only know you and Feferi from your world. I've met a few others in passing, but that's it.
