For everyone who got my call earlier in the week, I'm sorry for worrying you. I'm fine, and I've been staying with Tsubaki-chan since then. [There's a long pause and it almost seems like she's done when she goes on.]

What week do you mean?

Good! [She holds the tribble carefully, recognizing the tiny soul that tells her it's a living thing even before it's in her arms. Maka visibly softens, holding the tribble to her chest. It's like holding a ball of fluff. She'd forgotten how therapeutic it was to be with animals.]

Hi Butternut. [She coos at him, petting him with her free hand.]

[The tiny thing starts purring right away.] Brought you some cookies from my stash, too. They're not the ones Val prepared, either. [Setting that on top of her dresser, somewhere that'll be easy to find later.]

You can hold onto him for as long as it takes for your sight to come back if you want. Autumn just chases him.

I...don't know if I could take care of him as I am though. What does he eat? Er, how often does he eat?

I wouldn't know, six feet under for most of it. [He laughs lightly.] I don't mind, yeah? Everyone needs a little pick me up and cookies are good for that. Besides, we'll be taking another trip sometime soon. I can just get more then.

Easier than taking care of a cat, just give him a bit of anything you're eating every so often. Or crumble up some bars in a pile and he'll eat them as he gets hungry. Tsubaki can help you with him, yeah?

I'm sorry. [That sounds vaguely familiar but the week was such a blur.]

I wish we had some way of cooking or baking here. I miss it, and it would be fun to make meals for my friends. Maybe next facility three trip I can do that again.

Alright. Yes, she can, and if I move back into my room now that Kurama is back, he will too.

Is that okay with you, Butternut? [She smiles at the fluff ball, continuing to pet him.]
