[Someone's keening. It's not even crying, just an unsteady choppy note caught on each ragged breath out. It's not certain who first, just shaking hands that are washing over and over under water so hot its blistering the skin at the cuticles, and turning the rest an angry red.]

[The hands jerk and shiver and retreat. There's a manic jitter to the way he moves, a sleepwalker after days on end, a mind that's snapped completely - his face is concealed by hair tattered up and knotted with tangles from fisting at it, and earlier screaming. [His face when he drags breaking nails down his cheek, is twisted up and flushed with tears, teeth bared and wet and red. Nothing's working, he can't get deep enough, and that's when he scrambles a hand over his hip to grab Itachi's kunai. It hurts so much more, when he turns it on his neck, but he can see the snakes gushing free with all that blood. He sobs a laugh, and cuts deeper, digging the point in to stab one of those serpents he can see, to cut it away.
