freaking bible belt
ok, so it hadn't really hit me until today--I'M IN THE F---ING BIBLE BELT. it was so odd and i never really felt it before. today while i was working at the restaurant, two women came up to pay and within earshot they were talking "I believe AIDS is a punishment from God--well most of the time. . ." and when i hear this all I can think is "WHOA!"
the other lady starts, "Well I'm there with you. I believe it is God's way of punishing them too. There's too much going on in this world for it not to be."
"YEAH! There's nothing but hellfire in them people's futures anyway."
yeah, it was big hit to the bubble i had been living in for the past couple of days. it was just so weird, hearing people talk like that again. so we can all assume without making asses out of ourselves of who they were talking about (well 90% sure), but yeah isn't there something better to do in this town than make judgments outlandish as this in this town? blaming all the world's problems on a small group of people, but i guess once you put it like that. this is really happening everywhere.
