I love Friday nights now.
Lately I've been going out with one of my friends, hitting the town and having a few drinks. Last night we went to see a Sydney University sort of spin-off theatre company perform King Lear. All I needed to read was "this is a Shakespearean tragedy" before my brain was all like "here we fucking go again." Everyone fucking dies in Shakespeare's tragedies.
But the performance was a really interesting interpretation. Especially the fifth act. They use little packets filled with red vegetable dye that they smack with their hands to simulate blood and it was so fucking cool. My friend knew most of the cast so we milled around after the show was over and ended up going out to The Rose for 'a drink or two'. Then my friend and I were going to go out salsa dancing after. That didn't end up happening (remember that thing I mentioned where Latin clubs are dead when it's raining? yeah, it was pouring last night) but we did switch bars and went to The Different Drummer for sangria instead.
I was mainly talking to the actor who played the Earl of Gloucester and he has an English fucking accent and is a chivalrous gentleman. It's adorable. Turns out, he lives about 5-10 minutes away from me and he drove me home so I didn't have to catch the train and then get a taxi back. He is such a sweetheart I could see myself dating him if I wasn't already in a long-term relationship. Add to that, he has an awesome cd collection in his car and we have quite similar tastes in music. We figured out that we were actually at the Taste of Chaos 07 together. I'm going to look more into Thursday and he'll look more into The Amity Affliction :)
He also said that he'd have asked me out for a drink if I didn't have a boyfriend. I said I'd go as friends though. I don't know if that was the right thing to say? I'm so bad at talking to boys... faily!self dropped my cardigan in the river of a gutter as I got out of the car too. What, oh what am I going to do with myself?
