I've recently started drawing again and I've noticed two things:
1. Drawing takes a very meticulous attention to detail and slow approach to be done really well - much the same as music does. This is very rewarding.
2. Drawing is all about relationships between objects. This is incredibly cool.
I'm drawing every day, and it's very nice. Generally I prefer to draw from observation. Mostly because, I can't draw anything well enough yet to draw on my own (well most things). But I figure if I draw enough from observation, I will start to understand the nature of these objects and be able to draw them. This is very exciting.
I've also started reading The Book of Lost Things .. it's wonderous and fantastical & yet realistic enough ... I'll write more about it when I'm done.
