Working for the Ministry as an Obliviator meant that Arnold Peasegood was performing, as he liked to call it, public service. Some questioned the Ministry’s apparent over-abundant use of the Obliviate spell, but, as Arthur so often pointed out, it was effective in 99% of cases. In Arthur’s mind it made things nice and tidy. Those poor Muggles needed looking after, and if there were some odd side effects, it was only in a few cases. Better safe than sorry.
