As a Muggle...
  • Pick and explain one positive and one negative trait you feel define your overall personality:
  • Positive: I'm introspective, analytical, and observant, which allows me to understand myself quite well, including the parts of myself that I need to learn more about and the parts I need to work on. This trait set mostly applies to aspects of my life that directly involve me, but it probably also has its benefits in grad school/my research, as well.
Negative: A crippling negative self concept. I hold myself to this double standard where I'm always not as good as the people I admire. I can always find ways to excuse things that I supposedly do well, attributing it to a manner of circumstance rather than storing it as evidence that this is actually part of my personality.

  • Do you consider yourself more offensive or defensive?
  • Defensive, for sure. I'm barely offensive at all, and I'm pretty protective of myself and my identity. I take criticisms and meannesses deeply to heart and spend loads of time trying to figure out why the other person said/did a certain thing and what it might mean about me or about them, and also venting steam to anyone who will listen about how awful the thing was and how they could have addressed it better.

  • Are you quick or slow to anger?
  • Quick. I'm not proud of it.

  • In a fight, what is your greatest advantage? (i.e. brute strength, agility, speed, intelligence, etc.)
  • That's hard to say, seeing as I've never been in a fight. But if I take "fight" to mean "a difficult thing that I have to overcome", I tend to believe that all things will work out in the end because they have to, because people have the desire to protect themselves and will act in ways that are beneficial. Even if that's not true, it's probably true about me. So, persistence, I suppose, persistence to put up with a bunch of bullshit even when it's killing me. And conversely, the ability to know when it's time to get out.

In an actual fight? Shit I don't know. Maybe some kind of martial arts where I can take people down by catching them off balance. I mean, I don't know any of that, but I'd like to.

  • Are you more likely to be a protector or need protection?
  • Umm. No? Neither? I think I pretty much protect myself but I rely on loved ones for lots of moral support. I don't really protect anyone else or get protection from anyone else.

  • What is your Muggle weapon of choice?
  • MAH WERDZ. No just kidding. A secret, small, unexpected weapon that I can carry around all the time, like sharpening a spare key into a shiv and carrying it between your knuckles while walking alone at night. I don't actually have that but I keep it in mind.

As a Wizard...
  • Would you rather have a wand that increased your strengths or compensated for your weaknesses?
  • Absolutely 100% compensate for my weaknesses. I think I could be much stronger if I were farther along in my "working on parts of my personality that need working on" thing, like being more agile/flexible or knowing martial arts or, y'know, not holding myself to a double standard, so I'd want a wand that could either help me with that or do it for me.

  • What do you value more in a wand: Power, Consistency or Diversity?
  • Erm. I suppose Consistency above all. I don't want my wand pulling surprises on me that I'm not ready to account for. Probably Power next, and then Diversity last.

  • Would you prefer a wand that refuses to work for anyone but you or one you could lend to a friend if necessary?
  • I really like the idea of having a wand that's soul-bound to me and only me. In terms of the sense of the word "refuse", I want the want to be loyal, trusting, affectionate? rather than stubborn. Kind of like a familiar as opposed to an avid follower.

  • Would you prefer a wand with an independent and creative nature (i.e. might refuse to perform certain spells or will occasionally act on its own) or one that will obey every command given to it regardless of the consequences?
  • Okay, so since my wand is soulbound, and since I don't always know what's best for me or what I truly want and I have a really hard time making decisions when other peoples' needs are on the line, I want my wand to do that. To decipher what it is that I truly want and bring it to the surface. I want it to recognize what I would actually do in that situation if my mind weren't so clouded with fear and belief that I can't do it, and then do that.

  • Choose one of the following types of spell-casting you’d want your want to be especially good at: Charmwork, Dueling, Healing, or Transfiguration:
  • Ooh I've always wanted to excel in Transfiguration... but, practically speaking, Charmwork has to come first. That's kind of a no brainer; excelling at spells means you have a leg-up on lots of other aspects of wizardry. Transfiguration comes next. Probably followed by Dueling (but at a distance; I play Damage, not a Tank), and then Healing.

Explain your reaction to the following scenarios:
  • Finding yourself in possession of the Elder Wand:
  • FREAKING THE BALLS OUT because why do I have so much power, what do I do with it, I don't want to be responsible for having this.

  • Your wand breaking in the middle of a battle:
  • FREAKING THE BALLS OUT and then running away and hiding, probably.

  • Being expelled from Hogwarts and having your wand snapped in half:
  • FREAKING THE BALLS OUT and crying. Lots of crying. And also confusion because I don't think I would ever do something that would merit that, and an instant need to go repeal it, and then lots more crying and also anger.

  • You’ve defeated your arch-enemy and are poised for the final blow. Do you show mercy or go in for the kill?
  • Erm. Depends. Who's my arch enemy? Is it Voldemort or some other evil dictator? Do I need information from them? If I do, I'd keep them alive for holding and questioning. I'd probably be full of anger and EmOtIoN so I'd probably want to kick the shit out of them while they're being questioned, but in actuality I wouldn't. If I didn't need anything from them and they are truly Evil-aligned, responsible for genocide or something like that, kill 'em. Or is this some kind of long-running personal vendetta? What did they do to deserve the personal vendetta? I think I probably wouldn't kill them but I'd throw them the fck in Azkaban if they killed someone important to me.
