[LM] - Prompt #31 "Violent Heart" Nine Inch Nails

The laughter as it burst forth was condescending, amused beyond all belief and filled with a blood lust that was practically tangible as the man almost beneath his grasp. His cane struck out at the speed of light, hitting bone, taking away knees that tried to get away with a sickening crack and an audible thud at flesh met concrete.

“Not going to work” came the matter of fact statement as his boot crushed breath out, his weight pinning the man immobile even as he struggled with the fervour of a person who knows they aren’t likely to escape this situation alive. Hyde laughed against, shaking his head and tutting in a manner of a disgruntled parent when their child refuses to listen and to learn.

He bent down over the man, replacing foot with knee, pressing down even more;

“Now, where were we Mr Francis?” Hyde’s voice had regained it’s softness laced with danger, that of the predator, unforgiving, unrepentant, lulling you into a false sense of security before ripping out everything you knew and trusted from right underneath your nose.

Or right out of your chest if he was so inclined.

“Please…please don’t, I’m so-” the younger man spluttered, cut off by a swift blow to the head, his eyes rolling back a little as blackness flirted with the corners of his vision but he didn’t give in completely as Edward knew he wouldn’t.

That was why he chose him out of all the others in London Town that night.

It was no fun if they didn’t scream, beg, if they didn’t give you 101 reasons why you definitely shouldn’t do what they knew you were right from the moment you set eyes on them.

Edward smirked, forcing his cane underneath the man’s chin, forcing it upwards with a click that seemed to echo around the walls of the alleyway they were in. Rain fell steadily as it was always wont to do, drizzling down and off his face and clothing, diluting the blood as it ran.

Dull blue met brown, and again Edward laughed, the mans face deathly pale even though life still ran through it.

Though it wouldn’t for long.

“Please…I didn’t mean…” the man tried again only to be cut off once more by another swift blow to the head, the rapidly forming bruise almost beautiful in moonlight that had never been so cold to the man underneath Hyde’s boot and maybe…just maybe.

“We all pay our price”
