The keyword being ‘if’

Fandoms: Roswell, Supernatural
Rating: g
Genre: crossover, continuation, drabble, scene
Characters/Pairings: Dean/Maria, Michael/Maria one-sided.
Any warnings: It helps reading the other Roswell/Supernatural crossover drabbles/fics I have to understand this.
Disclaimer: Roswell and Supernatural and its characters are not mine. I only write fan fiction for funs and entertainment and to build an alternative reality in which I can play around and manipulate the characters...
A/N: This is just a short scene I always had envisioned... The plot-line is as follows: After Dean and Michael freed Max, Izzy and Sam from the ‘white room’, Michael tries to come onto Maria, telling her that she wouldn’t know but that they were supposed to be together. Dean catches the two and this is where this drabble is set.
A/N2: I know it is confusing... but I tried to come up and hint at a different alternative in my other drabbles... very subtle, and almost not there... Think of the Max ‘of the future’ but with Michael instead and him alternating the reality...

He pushed him away from his girlfriend and made sure that she stood behind him. He knew that Maria herself would never make eyes at another guy beside him, so having seen her in the arms of Michael Guerin; Dean quickly concluded that it had been initiated by the other man and not his girlfriend. He would never doubt her.

“There are three things that I would kill for. My brother, my car and my girl.” He said in a treating manner. “Listen here dude…” he said and stepped even closer to the other man, his face so close to Michael’s that their noses were almost touching. “… You come near my girl again, and I swear that those FBI people are going to be the least of your problems.”

Even though Michael had helped free Sam from the FBI’s clutches Dean still hadn’t been comfortable with him around; or his ‘siblings’ for that matter. It might have been the tiny fact that Michael and co were aliens that spooked him out, or thought Dean, it could have been the way that Michael Guerin looked at his girlfriend. Either reason, Dean had already decided that he’d pack their things now that Sam was with them again, and get back on the road.

So having gone to look for his girlfriend to inform her of their plans, and then finding her in an intimate embrace with the source of his irritation had been more or less a shock to him. None the less, Dean knew that his anger should never be pointed at his loyal girlfriend and rather at the handsome tall alien.

Dean didn’t step away from Michael, instead stared into the eyes of the other man, making sure that his death glare would really deliver the message. “I swear I’ll put a bullet right through your heart… Let’s see if your pal can heal that.”

“Maria was supposed to be with me! If I hadn’t…” started the other man.

And this time it was Maria who finally gathered herself enough to talk. “Exactly, ‘if’ being the key word.” She stood behind Dean, not coming out of his protective shadow. “You said so yourself. I was together with you in that other timeline. But not here. I don’t even know you!” she emphasised, sure that Michael wouldn’t try to pursue her now that Dean was here.

At the word ‘timeline’ Dean wiped his head into her direction and raised a questioning eyebrow. She shook her head in a clear ‘later’ gesture and then continued on.

“I don’t feel a thing for you. Only gratitude that you helped save Sam. But that’s it.”

With that, Maria pulled on Dean’s arm and they exited the room.
