A/N: I always had a soft spot for Maria... But I once read a fanfic that gave me such a different view on Tess, that I couldn't help but like her afterwards. I totally saw her with different eyes, and it pains me to see her only portrait as the evil traitor alien that some fans see her as.

She loved listning to him. His borrowed philosophy of love, life and continuation of it... it all being a circle that never ended... Those were things she liked to hear, if only to make him happy when ever she nodded at something significant he was telling her.
She loved to just sit with him, sometimes teasing him, sometimes talking to him. He was strong, and safe and he was there for her. He wasn't Zan, he wasn't Max, but he was what she had always thought they would stand for.
She sometimes saddened at the thought that she would never be more than a sister to him, but she reveled in the fact that she was important enough for him, to make exceptions for. He loved her, even if it wasn't the kind of love she wanted.
Their relationship was fine for now. She understood that it was what he wanted. He didn't want a girlfriend. He didn't want a soulmate. And that was fine for now. All she wanted now herself was just someone who saw and noticed her, and who would be there for her.
And he was that for her. He was what she always wanted Max to be, and she was content with that knowledge.
