He was only gone for forty minutes. Only because she needed some groceries, and being the nice and caring husband he was, he offered to do the shopping for her, while she finished off some pictures she had in the developing room.

But when Bane got back, he didn’t see his happy and grateful wife, instead he found a sad and crying Prue. She sat at their dinning room table, and was looking at pictures, almost like she was seeing through them. She looked lost and broken in a way.

“Baby, what’s wrong?” he asked as he neared her.

When she didn’t answer, he crouched down next to where she sat and put his hand on her cheek. It seemed like he had brought her back to reality with his touch, because then Prue suddenly saw him, not through him as before, but her eyes focused on him; and she said something which he had dreaded for a long time.

“I remember...”

--

His heart sped up to an accelerated pace. He could almost hear the blood rush into his brain though his ears. He tried to avoid eye contact with her, but she in turn only stared even harder at him.

“Bane, I said I remember.”

His mouth felt dry. So, she remembered now. Shit.

Instead of saying something, he only got up and turned away from her. He couldn’t look at her, not when she had just told him that she remembered the life she had had before theirs.

“I see...” was all he could answer her.

The silence between them was randomly interrupted by her sniffs, and loud sobs, until she had enough energy to finally ask him a question... one she wanted to ask him as soon as she finally remembered who she had been before she had been his wife.

“Why didn’t you tell me?”

He finally turned to her, and pleaded with her; his eyes trying to ask her not to have to answer to this question. Bane just couldn’t say anything without sounding like a selfish bastard.

--

They were still in the dinning room. She finally remembered who she was. Who she had been before she was found by him. Bane stood rooted to his place, not moving, not speaking, holding his breath.

Prue wanted to know why he had never told her the truth. About her, about her past, about the charmed ones. But Bane couldn’t tell her.

“All this time, you knew!” she accused, her voice slowly dripping with the anger which had first been only sadness and confusion.

“All this time, you knew...” she repeated. This time her anger was lesser, more realisation mixed into her statement.

And then her anger returned. “My sisters could be in danger! The power of three doesn’t work with one sister missing!” she screamed accusingly at him. He knew that!

But again he didn’t reply, didn’t say anything, just stood there taking in all she was giving out. He deserved it, he thought to himself as he watched her anger grow.

--

“I’m leaving!” she finally said. It was no use to her to stay here anymore. He obviously didn’t understand the importance of her sisters to her. “I need to go and help them.”

“Prue...” he called out to her, when he saw her get up from the chair. She just stared at him blankly, her anger at finding out the truth had now subsided and resolution was instead there. The resolution to go back home - not their home - and help her sisters.

“They don’t need you...” he said softly at first, and when he saw her anger flare again pressed harder, “They got a replacement very soon... right after you died!”

He didn’t see it coming... her power, that is. She looked like she was glaring a whole into his head, and then suddenly he was flying back into the wall.

“Good bye Bane...” she said, and passed him to get out to the hallway, and from there to the entrance. Bane slowly got up, wincing at the pain, and watched as she first got her jacket and then their sons’ from the wardrobe.

And then she was gone. Going to get Andy from the kindergarten and just leave him.

--

She remembered, and she left.
