Her uncle had been worried at first about her decision to date Johnny. He had argued at first that it would complicate things if she started dating his wives brother. But Chloe had stayed firm against each argument and gave at least five different ones back.
She knew that he only feared Johnny would break her heart; and that that would estrange her from him and his team. But she knew that her human torch would never intentionally hurt her.
Then Susan had taken her to the side and tried to go at it the sensitive and sensible way. She had asked if she was sure. If Chloe really knew what she was getting herself into, and then left it when Chloe yet again stayed firmly behind her decision to date the human torch.
She had expected her brotherly friend Ben to come and try it the hard way. To pursue her that Johnny wasn’t the right choice for her. But funny enough he never did.
Days later she found out why. Ben, or ‘the Thing’ as Johnny called him, had threatened her now-boyfriend with bodily harm and murder should he make her unhappy. And Johnny confessed that it was the first time he had ever been scared of Ben.
But in any case Johnny and she proved them all to be wrong. They are still together. Even now after four years and endless heroic acts.
