A/N: I really enjoyed reading shadowglove’s crossover series… I think it kicks ass! And so, I was also inspired to do a little twilight crossover with Smallville… But it all started off with the thought of who would be perfect for Leah… and somehow this here ended up as the first in a series of short ficlets… anyway, enjoy and do tell me what you think of it!!!

The sun is finally rising

Sam and Jacob got into an argument again and as a result Jake ran away from the reservoir. He wanted to get a new perspective on things. He was sick and tired of his fiends imprinting on various girls, and he was sick and tired to be the only one who saw the real thread in the Cullens. Sam stood on their side when it came to the agreement they had. But Jacob knew that one could never really trust a vampire. And that was one of the arguments they had shouted at each other while in anger.

Sam had tried to pull the alpha on him. And Jacob had not wanting to be subdued this time, so he had just ran away before Sam could utter a word and make it law so that he had to follow.

He has been in wolf-form ever since the second day. The reason for that had been the little fact that Jacobs money had run out already then. And it really was inconvenient that the protection of humans didn’t pay anything, which leads him to the problem of not having enough money in the first place.

Jacob kept to the woods and travelled from place to place by night. He tried to avoid human contact as much as possible. Sometimes he did find the occasional vampire feeding off or about to feed of an innocent human. But those were the rare occasions Jacob had his fun by hunting down said vampires and destroying them for good, so that they wouldn’t harm another human.

Being in wolf-form he soon abounded human thinking and he wasn’t bothered to find out where he was or what or how far the next bigger city was. Even if he was physically alone, in his head he was never alone. His pack brothers did try several times to convince him to return, but he ignored them and instead tried to ignore the fact that he was a pack animal designed to save and protect humans from vampires, but was ‘currently alone on something similar as an ego-trip’ as Leah commented.

One afternoon he was lying under a shadowy tree, sheltered from the sunlight when he heard a human female scream.

The urge to protect humans was still there and foremost present so when he heard the shrill female scream yet again he got up and ran into the direction it cam from. When he got there his wolfish eyebrows rose at the sight that he saw before him.

“Let go of her, you freak!” screamed a blond girl at something that looked like a stone figure that had come to life. She was pounding with her fists against something which looked like a stone cocoon. And to Jacobs additional surprise no vampire was present.

The stone creature turned to her and waved his hand toward her direction. Suddenly the girl’s body was surrounded by a stone wall.

Jake didn’t think twice and attacked the humanoid stone monster. When he tore into him he had a feeling like he was biting into a vampire, and when the thing started fighting him it only caused him to get more excited.

The stone creature was soon slain and the stone wall that had been around the blond girl melted down, like an ice cube exposed to extreme heat. As it was Jacob noticed that the stone cocoon the girl had hit against earlier also started to melt down.

Still in his wolf form Jacob neared the blond girl and nuzzled her to make sure she was alright.

She seemed at first shocked of him, but her inhibition soon died out and she exclaimed surprised and pleased “You saved us!” She hesitated but then stroked his head and chuckled when he released something that sounded like a pleased whine.

The exhausted moan of another female pulled him out of his bliss of a human touch. He looked over to where a brunet girl was sitting with her back to him. He neared her to check on her. A crunch from a branch under his foot alarmed her and she turned.

The girl shrugged back afraid of the giant wolf, but all Jacob could see was the rising of the sun.

He had finally also imprinted.
