fuck. i recieved a small beta fish from leah/libby/britney/jasmine for my 18th birthday. i'm supposed to feed it every other day and clean the water every week. however, i feed it every week and hadn't changed the water in over two months. i decided to change it tonight.
i can only use drinking water to change the water because chlorine kills this kind of fish. i filled a bowl with drinking water and went up stairs. i pushed the fish to the edge of its bowl with my hand. it spasmed and leaped over the recieving bowl so that it landed right on the ground. SHIT! i had to scoop its flopping fish body and dump it in the new, clean tupperwear bowl. it sank right to the bottom and layed on its side. FUCK! i forgot to use the room temperature drinking water instead of the chilled water. my fish was in shock. i ran to the bathroom with my fish and dumped out half the cold water. i put in hot tap water to compensate. now the fish was at risk of dying of chlorine. DAMNIT! i had to run downstairs and fill the original fish bowl with room-temp drinking water. when i got back up, my fish was twitching and moving around the edge of the tupperwear bowl in a crazy binding-exploding dance move. i quickly picked up the fish and dropped it into the all-good bowl.
the fish ceased movement at first, then swam slowly as it had when i first got it, oblivious that anything had happened.
i'm never getting a fish again, nevermind a human child.
