Last batch now...
The first pic I took in Portland. :)
Met up with the amazing
fleurdeliser and had a really full day of great and cool stuff.
The magic is, indeed. Yeah!
Wait, wait, does that say it plays...?
...why, yes, yes it does.
And column-toppers for all.
Fire escapes for my boy, 'cos I know he loves 'em.
Proof - Beervana!
The beautiful Lan Su Chinese Garden.
Huber's, Portland's oldest bar.
Seems all the wildlife I took photos of in Portland was cast in bronze.
Jantzen Beach shopping mall. Yes, it IS open. Yes, you COULD shoot a zombie movie there. (apparently Wil Wheaton, guesting on an ep of Leverage, thought it was cool they could close down an entire huge mall just for their shooting, then someone explained that no, it's always like that)
Does have a lovely carousel though!
Bronze beavers shouldn't smoke.
Then it was onto another AmTrack and off to the border and Vancouver. I spent about half an hour in Seattle, changing vehicles and chatting to a homeless dude upon whom I unloaded the last of my US coinage. He'd been to Australia. :)
Vancouver, baby! I'm back! View from my first hotel. That's Granville Bridge.
Not only did the room have a Gideon's Bible, it also had the teachings of Buddha - in Dutch. Just what the weary traveller needs for those long, dark teatimes of the soul.
Walking across the Granville Bridge.
A graffito of Raven! *loves*
On Granville Island.
Morrissey's on Granville Street. I approve. I approve so hard.
Long, dark teatimes of the soul, man.
Hotel number 2 - the Sheraton Wall Centre. A view with water! Kitsilano, innit?
The room had some seriously creepy-arsed artwork though. I had to sleep in the same room with THIS!
Went to see Joan Jett & the Blackhearts at the PNE with the rockin'
djin7. Joan's mother had died just the day before and Joan was obviously grieving, poor love. But she still rocked. \m/
Rides!
The Sheraton had this cool weather forecast set into a mirror at one bank of lifts that lit up what the day's weather was supposed to be. Sunny AND Cloudy - no wonder I love Van, it reminds me of Melbourne. ;)
Proof - fan convention!
And then... home. *tired sigh*
