A few phonecamera shots from Saturday & Sunday. Members of D's swordgroup (
Melbourne Swordplay Guild) took up an invitation to participate in the annual living history weekend at Victoria's infamous medieval mock-up,
Kryal Castle (
Kryal's official site) near Ballarat.
Just a note - MSG aren't re-enactors or SCA'ers or anything like that. They actually approach Western swordplay, circa 16th-18th centuries, as a legitimate martial art. They study the teachings of the swordmasters, schools and guilds of the day in order to inform their modern take on the martial artistry of Western swordplay as a sport.

Dom on Sunday.
Marcus & Dom bouting on rather uneven ground. ("I thought the terrain warranted it.")
Dom & Marcus bouting on (somewhat) flatter ground.
Some of Tim's articulated, hand-forged body armour (yes, he's a blacksmith). (among many other things)
Marcus & Dom helping Tim suit up. ("I feel like a knight of the theatre! I say, are you my new dresser?")
Marcus & Tim bouting.
(Random: that Hospitalier in the background was a Jedi Knight in Attack Of The Clones)
Steve, Dom & Tim.
That's my boy. X-)
