First knitting project finished!

In March I went to Hrim Schola and took a beginner knitting class. It was fun. So I went to Michael's and bought several sets of needles & misc. tools while N perused the yarn. He brought me a skein of red and said, "Mommy! I like this! Make me something!"

I said, "Would you like a scarf? Or a hat?" (thinking to pick something simple to start)

He said, "A monster truck! or a fire engine!"

O.o

I said, "Let's look in this handy book right here in the store . . . a bunny? A robot? A turtle (oh, cute!!)? A crocodile?"

So we picked out some green to go with his red and I made him a crocodile. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

Following the pattern wasn't too bad, I've followed enough crochet patterns to figure out when I goofed up and to try to fix things. The one thing I've not figured out is when I have to rip something back, how to pick the stitches back up so I don't get funky lines (I think I am either twisting or untwisting the stitches but I will need more practice to figure out how not to do it in future). Also, purl decreases are hard when you make the stitches too tight. (couple more pics in gallery if you care)

Note to self: sew felt strips (for teeth) in as rectangles with mattress stitch on each side of knitted seam, passing yarn through felt for each stitch. Use sharp embroidery snips to clip out spaces between teeth afterward.

N is very happy with his crocodile, he's just not sure if it's going to eat his head or not.
