This post is dedicated to Sissi of
With a Glass who taught me that summer rolls DON'T have to have noodles inside. :) And there's a special something in the bbq'd pork rolls that I included before I saw your post today, Sissi. We must have a psychic connection.
By the time I made and ate these it was 4:00pm and I was starving as it was my first meal of the day.
My mom was transferred to a permanent long term facility today (they notified us 24 hrs in advance) and I was up before 8am and out of the house to pack her belongings, oversee the move, and then I stayed til after lunch to make sure we were both familiar with the mealtime routine. :)
In spite of all that, I still found that I had taken 37 pictures and actually had to restrain myself from posting more than I did.
Strangely, I only took 3 pictures (2 were out of focus) while assembling the surimi rolls. I don't know why but when I went to check, all I saw was bbq'd pork followed by more bbq'd pork followed by ... well, I'm sure you get the 'picture'. :)
Mise en place for Surimi (fake crab legs) and BBQ'd Pork summer rolls and other filling ingredients: avocado, bibb lettuce, spice Masago mayo, pickled ginger (gari)
Spicy 'Mayo' with Masago - Though I used Miracle Whip you can certainly use mayonnaise if you prefer it. Just stir in as much Sriracha or other hot sauce as you prefer. Taste it before you start making your rolls and adjust the amount you put inside or your tummy won't appreciate the experience. :)
BBQd Pork and Avocado Roll - lettuce and pickled ginger (gari) included
ETA: From a different summer roll making session
