My Kitchen Sink .... I love it again

My house is at least 70 yrs old, if not more.

And the kitchen sink has been temperamental since we moved in about 25 yrs ago. We had the drainage pipe all the way to the city pipe 'snaked out' about 15 yrs ago and for the last 3 months, I've 'plunger'ed and then used various drain cleaning products to try to solve the slow draining issues. This morning, I found that the situation had gotten so bad that there was still standing water in the sink from last night.

So, I called the plumber.

Mr Rooter is my man. :)

Two hours were spent snaking it from underneath the sink followed by more snaking from the basement into the line which runs under the basement floor and into the city's waste water lines. The stuff that came out during the flushing out process was scary. And the leaks from the drains of the 2 kitchen sinks ... well, I looked at the cost of having them come back later to deal with the leaks and to install the air vent (AAV or air admittance valve) that had NOT been installed compared to having it done as part of this job. Which took another hour of work.

Long story short ... I spent ~$450 (which included the senior citizen discount and sales tax) and I have a kitchen sink that actually DRAINS!!! And shiny new basket strainers and plugs, P-trap, drain pipes etc.

It's all so pretty.

And the water just drains and drains and drains away.

It's only money, after all. :)
