Sugar Cookies

I saved some of the sugar cookies my nephew and I made for Christmas to celebrate my first pictures taken with my new camera. The pictures were a little overexposed, I've been told, but the cookies were cute enough and they tasted wonderful.

These look great - they have a really smooth, creamy look to them :) Bet they're perfect dunked in a cup of tea :D

Thank you for the compliment. They got harder as they stood, even in their tupperware containers but the tea or coffee helped soften them a bit especially on the thicker batches (1/4" inch) which were baked for testing the piped icing at the end. :) Those were all eaten except for a couple of the christmas trees with the green frosting and silver dragees ( ... )

Thank you. I'll try to cut back on the pictures but I just couldn't pick the best picture for the post.

They're called silver dragées. They have regular candy ones as well as these silver metallic ones, and more recently, also gold, copper and pearlescent ones. The tree cookies were my prettiest decorated ones. I still have to work on the design for the sugar cookie men and women but I think I'll have to buy icing in the tubes (or at least real piping bags and tips ... parchment paper was too slippery to make the little cones).

Thank you for the compliment.

Thank you, I'm still learning to use it. I just learned how to turn the flash off and use a soft flash today. As to the cookies, well it was a very good recipe and, thanks to my nephew's patience, we learned that you have to make sure the dough is very cold before cutting out the cookies.

I think these look good, Ann. I love the zig zag tinsel look on the trees. These would have been so popular with the kids xx http://hotlyspiced.com

Thank you. I think less is more with cookie decorating especially when you're not too good with the icing tips like me. :)
