Memories ... Yugoslavia

A couple of years ago, I had my nephew scan in some old pictures from Yugoslavia.

This is me at age ... no idea to be honest.

The picture was taken in a photography studio. The stuffed toy wasn't  mine. Which made me sad when I heard.

Solemn but adorable-it's a lovely picture, and it's interesting to me that you remember feeling sad about the toy because I can't remember much about my feelings at such a young age.

I remember asking my mom about the stuffy ... if it was mine. And she said the studio loaned it to me to get me to smile. Apparently, it didn't help. Maybe I wanted the toy and my parents said I couldn't keep it. I don't know.

I don't remember HAVING a stuffy as a kid.

We came to Canada via Germany when I was 7 so I figured I couldn't/wouldn't have brought anything like that in the suitcases my mom packed but I don't have a memory of one at all.

My cousin had a few that I loved and always wanted for my own. I would borrow them to play with for a week at a time. My favourite was named "horsey spider" and it was indeed a spider!

I don't know what kind of stuffy I'd like. When my SIL donated my nephew's old toys, I appropriated one of them cause it appealed to me. A penguin which he called "Pengy". :)

Years later ... I made myself a stuffed bunny using a Joanne Fabrics pattern. Never gave her a name though. :)

That's what I thought. Wondered when I was first saw the picture in my mom's stash years ago.
