Chicken Shawarma - Take 2

I love the taste of a shawarmaWhether it's the chicken or the beef/lamb mixture my local place makes, seeing those thin strips of meat shaved off their rotating meat tower and briefly browned off before being placed in a warmed pita bread with a generous drizzle of sauce (tzatziki, hummus, tahini or garlic) is a treat ... and it's all delicious,

Greek is not a food I have much experience with, but this sounds yummy.

There are a lot of delicious Greek foods/dishes and I've made a few of them but this one is pretty common across the entire region. It's a great take out dish.

We have a Greek festival here and I've sampled quite a few things, but none of them have inspired me to want to make them. Possibly visiting Greece this fall will fix that.

I have to admit that I have been very fortunate in that we've been able to travel. Greece wasn't high on my list (despite the Mamma Mia angle) , but as it is the birthplace of theatre, I feel it's my duty to at least visit it once.
