Marcasite Jewellery

Although everyone seemed to wear day jewellery, real or costume, in the 80s, that's not the case any longer. I rarely wear any of mine these days. I also used to wear a lot more gold jewellery then as my mom used to gift me with a ring, pair of earrings, bracelet or chain for each of my birthdays during a period of 10-12 yrs and ending when I was about 25. I'll post a picture of some of my favourite pieces one of these days.

More recently, I've been buying silver, like the marcasite pieces I shared in my last post. I recently ran across the inexpensive charm bracelet that my bff gifted me back in high school, with the little charms whose origins I still recall fondly, and which was probably among the first pieces of silver jewellery that I owned.

I cleaned some of that jewellery with a home made silver cleaner today but the results weren't overly impressive. Probably because the pieces weren't as tarnished as I thought they were.

Here's a three dimensional flower pin that I do wear more often.

Some more pieces after cleaning

Marcasite Bracelet - the chain is welded shut for security so it won't fall off

Amethyst set marcasite frog - My nephew brought me back this little frog set with a cabochon cut amethyst from New Orleans. That's not a sword in his little hand, just the opened pin

Marcasite dragonfly pin

The pin has a loop on the underside so that it can be worn as a pendant on a necklace
