On History and its Teachers.

Or rather, one teacher. Mine. Some quotes.

"Nobody liked Johnson. So in the next election, they elected Grant. Does anyone know why Grant? Anyone, anyone? That's right! Because he was a WAR HERO! Do you think that is a good reason to elect someone? Because they are a WAR HERO? Well, before you answer, let me tell you that Grant is commonly acknowledged as one of the worst presidents in American history."

That was a few days ago. Now, today:
"Wartime Reconstruction. Can anyone tell me why we needed wartime reconstruction. That's right! To plan ahead! So that when the war ends, you have a PLAN! So that you have an EXIT STRATEGY!"

He also apparently thinks that Johnson was the first to use a veto. Whereas even the powerpoint he uses (which he freely admits to taking from another teacher - at another school), even his powerpoint makes it clear that Johnson was just the first one to have Congress override his veto.  Sort of a difference.
UPDATE: And wikipedia says it wasn't even that.

"At the time, Presidents didn't really do much".

Well, yes. They did what the Constitution told them to. And not much else. Yet. Why the disapproving tone of voice?

And the utterly predictable finale?

"I am scared of math and science. I avoid them whenever I can."
