nice to take a day off now and then

Last night my co-worker Sam came over with her friend Donna and a HUGE van. We filled that sucker with a ton of the left over things from my grandma's estate - all the things we haven't been able to sell with our *failed* estate sales. I think she must have taken about 75% of the things that were stored in my garage, including an old kitchen table, a desk and shelf, tons of knick-knacks, vases, dishes, lamps, stuffed animals, and two lawn bags full of clothing. She's doing the 3-day Susan G. Komen Walk-for-a-Cure, so to raise money she's having a huge garage sale and was asking for donations to it. I've been trying for months to get rid of all this stuff, so I was more than happy, and very grateful, to let her take it and get what she can to help her cause. My garage is so empty now, it's amazing! There's still some stuff left, and I'm probably going to just have my uncle call a junkman to haul it away. I'm done messing with it. It's not like I have a car or anything big to store in my garage, but someday I might, and with all the junk in there it was impossible to even move. I might get a lawn mower and a grill, and before last night I wouldn't have been able to even store them, there just wasn't room!
I took today off from work, originally because I thought I might be out of town this weekend, and then, since it got to be so late last night with Sam, because I was dog tired and didn't get to bed until after midnight. It's nice and quiet around here on a Monday. Very relaxing.

I took up the ground sheets I had over the grass seed today. The grass has grown so much, it looks amazing! I've still got some patch work to do, but for the most part it's nice and green and a lawn! I can't tell you how many years it's been since there was actual grass growing on that half of the yard. The trees and weeds and raspberries had just taken over everything, and didn't even look nice. Bit by bit we are making this a beautiful backyard again. We have designs on buying two more rose bushes to put in the side garden near the front of the house, just need to line up a ride sometime this week to transport them.

My brother's having another cook-out tonight, so Krys and I are going over there later this afternoon. Brats and corn on the grill, yummy, can't wait!

Been trying to write again. Hitting some serious writer's block, but trying to get past it. Wrote out a rough version of a song, so that's something. I haven't done poetry/song writing in a VERY long time.
