Oh, fer crying out loud!
Yep this is yet another Bones rant. Why can't I quit this show?
Right so, my reaction is like "WHAT? WHAT? WTF?!" Where did THAT come from?! And then there's this interview here. In which the writers (and showrunners) once again prove that not only do they not know their own characters but they also do not know good writing.
So they gave Booth & Brennan a baby because they're not the kind of people to do the "lovey-dovey" part of the relationship?! WTF? You can be with someone and still be yourself. You don't have to do the lovey-dovey part! But when you have as many issues as those two they do have to talk about their relationship. Brennan is hella scared of long-term romantic relationships, even if she does want to be with Booth. Her crying into his arms does not magically make those not exist. He got shot down by three women he loved, including Brennan once, and he hasn't really gotten over that either.
So we go from a scene where they comfort eachother after the death of a colleague to having a baby? I just don't think either Brennan of Booth would actually have sex in that situation. He'd never want to feel like maybe he took advantage of her when she was so distraught. And even if it did happen Brennan doesn't strike me as the person not to use birth control! Even if they didn't have anything on hand there's still the morning after pill! What really annoys me though is that both of them acted like nothing out of the ordinary happened ever since that scene! They haven't even been more flirty with each other that usual, not even standing closer together, not nothing! Except for some brief moments this ep when Max was supposed to notice something, which really is the usual for him. So, if you want us to buy that something more than comfort or a one night stand happened last ep this not the way to do it! Fail, writers fail. All that on top of this ep being one of their lamest yet. I hated the lame wigs and the murder of the week was a really thin plot. And way to fail at hiding Emily's pregnancy!
I know the characters are what canon and the writers say they are but in this case, well these just aren't the same characters they started out with, and not because of natural evolution of the characters and storylines but because of the writers insisting that developing the relationship will lead to Moonlighting. Except, dear writers, you already got there by trying to keep the same thing going for 6 years. Trust me, no one is watching your show for the actual cases any more. The people who were interested in the cases bailed out a long time, and those interested in the relationships have started bailing too. And, for the love of everything stop lying to your fans! Teasing them with potential spoilers is okay, lying is not!
