Okay, i love fandom. I really do. It's a wonderful place, with all of these creative and funny and amazing people people. It has land comms and fandomsecrets and interesting meta about all kinds of things.
But, this week fandom has turned into a scary place and it has me going all "WTF". The Criminal Minds fandom is all up in arms about the new character just because she isn't JJ, and the hate and wank that ensues is ridiculous. It's first time since i've been on that comm and i've had to delete comments for being insulting to another member (infamous fandom troll notwithstanding). The first time in 3 or 4 years. And then, when i make a harmless comment in another thread, a member accuses me of not following my own rules and that, as a mod, i should choose my words more carefully! I do this all the time. That's why this and other rants are here and nowhere near the comm! I try my best, and getting pms like that really ticks me off. No, it isn't because we have different opinions not-so-dear-fan, it's because i try my best and when you tell me i'm doing it wrong it isn't pleasant (understatement, much?).
Also, the Bones fandom seems to be entirely cuckoo. I made the mistake of reading the reaction comment to this weeks ep and oh boy... Besides the fact that most people seem to have entirely missed the point of Booth character, the hate & the bashing is astounding. But guess this is what happens when the showrunner seems to have lost sight of his characters a long time ago.
