[Of course he sounds preoccupied! He's so used to talking to himself, or to another physically present person, that he's nearly forgotten how to use this thing. The mutterings are accompanied by fumblings and tinkles and rustles and dings and bonks.]You know, it's escaped my mind often enough until Cissie brought it up earlier that Earth is very ( Read more... )

There is a celebration of an old divinity, a mother goddess, but it is not my celebration.

I understand winter festivals and know they will be different. I look forward to these celebrations. I have also seen the snow on the top deck. It is amazing. May I request something warm to wear?

There's snow on the deck? I should go and see it! [He sounds a bit more excited than normal about that. IT'S ALMOST LIKE YOU MENTIONED SCIENCE OR SOMETHING.]

Oh, of course. Why don't you come and help me finish setting all this up in my room? I've got plenty of warm things for you to wear, though some of it might be a bit big--but that's all right, as it would trap more air to insulate you with.

It is like the top of a mountain. It is very cold, but very beautiful. I saw people playing in the snow and they seemed happy. The halls are very cold now too, like the deck, so anything will suffice.

I will come to help you very soon, and you can tell me what you are setting up.

Playing in snow tends to be great fun. Perhaps if I can find you a pair of mittens as well... [Clack, rustle, rustle!]

I'm decorating my quarters with things from a mixture of traditions--Earthling, mostly, but there are so many traditions on Earth alone to choose from--and some of Gallifrey's Otherstide wares as well.

I see many traditions that are unfamiliar to me, but I will learn of them in time. Otherstide?

No, wait. Tell me when I arrive.

Very well, then.

[It takes only a couple of minutes to pop into the TARDIS and root around in the wardrobe. He's terribly glad that Romana's things are, for the moment, nowhere to be found in there. Within another minute or so, he's back in the cabin proper, a ridiculously huge plum greatcoat and a... well, not QUITE matching, but equally huge, scarf hung over the foot of the unused bed as he continues making the room look more and more festive. WHY. CAN'T. HE. STOP. DECORATING.]

[The goddess hurries on up to his cabin, crossing her arms over her chest for once to keep herself from freezing in the corridors. It's cold. It's REALLY cold. Coyolxauhqui doesn't approve.

She does think all the tinsel's pretty though. Not that she'll ever admit that out loud.

She knocks on his door, teeth chattering. Come on, open up, Doctor.]

[He is, he is! This time, tinsel of a completely different colour is hanging over his shoulder, and he's nabbed the coat and scarf. He raises a brow to find her shirtless still, and hurriedly fumbles to hold up the coat.]

You certainly aren't accustomed to the human condition, are you? Come on, then, let's get you warmed up.

[She could jump for joy at seeing the coat, but she doesn't because she's cold and she doesn't relish making a spectacle out of herself. Well, she doesn't relish making a spectacle out of herself if she can help it anyway.]

If I had my magic I would become an animal with fur.

[Coyolxauhqui steps inside and reaches out for the coat, but her eyes catch sight of something green hanging over the doorway. She pauses and looks up in curiosity, then quite suddenly drops the coat to take the Doctor's face in her hands and forcibly plant a kiss on him.]

A lioness, perhaps.

[His smile is indulgent and he holds it out to her... only to pinwheel and stumble upon being ambushed. He flails a bit and balances himself with one arm against the frame, and it's really anyone's guess as to whether his ever so slight melting into it, or the scarf'd arm around her waist, are because of the renewed sprig above them or not.

...That really long pause in it probably wasn't, though, nor the grin he expertly managed to hide away before standing up again.]

You know, you aren't required to do that. If you've seen it elsewhere, it's because there are branches of a... plant... where did that come from? I thought I took it down!

[He has now noticed it and glares up at it as he stoops for the coat again.]

[Yes, the sprig of mistletoe above them was at fault for the goddess' unexpected assault on the Doctor, but Coyolxauhqui smiles from ear-to-ear when he glares at the plant with blame in his eyes.

True, the unknown plant had compelled her, but her smile turns into a devious little smirk.]

You put it there on purpose. It made me kiss you.

[She takes the jacket from him and shrugs it on, doing a very poor job of hiding said smirk.]

[Indignant huff!] I did no such thing. I removed it the first time it appeared and caused me to... well, I removed it. It's sitting there.

[He points to the sprig gathering dust and decorational discs in the corner before fussing over her to help her into the scarf as well, now on his way to blushing.]

I wasn't even aware of its properties here, until today. In my Universe, it's simply a plant and a tradition, not a compulsion.

[Coyo is a mean, mean divinity, taking pleasure in the fact that the Doctor was all out of sorts. She lets him help her wrap the scarf around her neck, frowning slightly once she registers where she's seen this outfit before.

Oh well. At least it's warm.]

Uh huh. I believe you, Doctor. [But she's smirking like she doesn't. Coyolxauhqui slips away from him to pick up the discarded sprig of mistletoe, observing the discs as she does.]

I should keep this. [A devious grin.]

[And there is a look that is sort of scolding, a lot of knowing, and vaguely amused when he steps back.]

Should I let you keep it? To what end?

What end could I mean?

[She dangles the sprig over her head and grins.] There is only one purpose for this plant, yes?

[And Coyolxauhqui takes ONE BIG STEP towards him.]

[Well, it's poisonous too, but he won't bring that up unless she tries to eat it. When she steps forward, however, he looks sincerely surprised a moment, and then... takes a little too long to think about it before stepping back, scuffling at the litter of discs on the floor with his trainer.]

I suppose as long as you don't mean to strangle anyone with it, or go about extracting kisses from people without their permission. Will you behave?
