Yesterday (Friday) was torturous. I was working on not-so-much sleep over the course of the preceding two days, and so by the time yesterday afternoon rolled around, I thought I might just fall over and sleep where I lay.
Thursday had been, all things considered, a truly interesting day. Truly. First, a lovely bunch of folks were keen on the idea of starting up a collaborative fiction set in a supernatural alternate-reality. As I've been weeping and gnashing my teeth over the poky pace of some of my other forays into online RPing, this brought me much elation.
I also had another Advanced Excel class in the morning. Now, Advanced Excel probably doesn't thrill most of you the way it does me, but then I find Excel to be a fabulously sexy program. Be still my little organizing heart. In September I get to learn all about Pivot Tables. Mmmmmm. And speaking of spreadsheets, did anyone notice that Google is now offering spreadsheets online to its members? I haven't yet dived into how it works, but supposedly they can be made communal, which has intriguing possibilities for remote work between groups. My geeky little cup runneth over.
Thursday night,
kal_el_lives,
evilandi and I met up with Erick Wujick for dinner. Wuj was in Bellevue for a job interview, and as
kal_el_lives had approached him with a business proposition earlier in the month, it was a perfect opportunity to get together and talk. Wuj has been living in Shanghai for the last few years and so had some great stories to tell about the city, as well as China in general. Our Business-Talk was refreshingly straight-up and informative, and we made some headway with our goals for the project. During dinner, Erick (being Erick) asked, "While I'm here, do you want me to run anything for you?" The gents were quite enthusiastic. I was less so as I was running short of sleep and had a headache to boot ... but hey, Wuj is one of the best GMs I've had the pleasure to play with, and if he offers, one should seize the opportunity. So he ran us in a quickie, two-hour, non-Amber one-shot. Much fun, even for the mentally-mushy me. It could have gone on much longer, but midnight rolled around and everyone had appointments and work early in the morning. It was a cordial and convivial evening all the way around. Lovely.
That was why Friday was so very draggy.
Today is all about finishing replacing my office, and getting out into the remains of the summer sunshine. I have irises to plant this weekend, as well as other gardening to see to. Tonight we're up to Edmonds to play in Paul's D&D game. I need to work on Under Endless Starlight (the Amberesque scenario I'm running for both ACNW and as a campaign for the group). Oh, and I have a book-club book to read, too. Sometime. Soon. Not quite sure when. Gah! my life is full! This is a marvelous thing.
As a side note, the weather is perfect today. It is one of those glorious, revel-in-the-beauty-that-is-Seattle sort of days. I plan on eating it up with a spoon.
