Update Me
It's been forever since I posted in LJ alone. A few lines in Facebook, maybe a blog entry shared across boundaries, but LJ? Not so much. Not out of dislike. No, it's nothing more than seasonal blahs and neglect. Oh and less time caused by increased commute and a new puppy.
AmberCon Northwest was lovely, and I had a grand time playing fabulous games and seeing awesome people. I was telling Best Roomie Evar, aka evilandi, that this year it was about the people, about community. I have a post brewing about the gamer community; well, this slice of it anyway. For now, suffice it to say that there's mighty good and beautiful people in our world, and we're very lucky to be a part of such a great group.
The new puppy, Alistair, is ... full of puppy. He's supposedly .5 lab/.5 terrier. I think it's more like .90 terrier/.10 lab. He's about 8 months old now, so about to head into his teenage years. This should be interesting. But he's smart and fun and funny, and also stubborn, and I'm enjoying having him around. For all that he's a handful, having again a dog that's "mine" is deeply comforting. I didn't know I'd missed it that much. I guess that answers the question of "Dog or cat person?"
Now that the travelling is over for the year, I'm glad to be settling back into book editing. I've decided to take no more writing classes for a while, as I need to process what I've already learned and put it into effect. Less time learning, more time learning as I'm doing. These two books won't edit themselves, after all. But I'm really pleased by how they're going. I think readers will be pleased as well. And that's what it's all about, Charlie Brown.
So yeah, that's my life at the mo. Nothing dramatic, just ... my life. Which is pretty darn good.
