Bucky had fallen asleep shortly after Daken left, and didn’t wake again until the man came home. His eyes opened when he heard Daken call out to him, and he made a confused little noise. That was new. He was unaccustomed to having Daken announce his presence that way, and Bucky didn’t stir or give any other indication that he was awake until his lover left the room. Rubbing the sleep from his eyes (and either unaware of or not caring about his terrible bed hair), he padded after the other man.
Daken hadn’t gotten very far before apparently freezing in place. Bucky smiled a little as he walked up to Daken and wrapped his arms around him to hug the man from behind. “Mmm, you’re back.”
He scented him coming down the hallway but only belatedly did the mutant realize the whole house smelled of Bucky. People left scent trails in places they spent a lot of time in. Daken's suppressing of his own scent was so ingrained he didn't even think about it anymore. So the fact that he could smell the scent of the human in every corner of his dwelling unnerved the mutant.
When the hell had that happened? Sure, he'd been spending a lot of time here but still. But....it had been months. Daken wasn't sure how to even cope with that realization that he'd been peacefully coexisting with another person for months on end. This wasn't true to form at all. He was supposed to get what he needed and move on. When had they gotten into a relationship? "Yes, I'm back and in dire need of a shower."
He nodded before nuzzling the man’s neck, paying no mind to the gore on him. “I bet you need one. And a good night’s sleep.” Having gotten into Daken’s habit of sleeping in the nude, Bucky was still unclothed. With his bare chest pressed against the other man’s back, he could feel the torn cloth, the caked blood. But he knew it was over now. Daken wouldn’t have returned until the job was done and done well. His own job was to take care of the man now, much as he’d taken care of Bucky after his kidnapping. “C’mon. Let’s get you cleaned up.”
Still rather mystified and dazed by this evenings revelations, Daken made no move to stop Bucky as he tugged him back into the master bedroom and into the shower.
"Alright," he murmured more to himself than anything else. The mutant started to unbutton his shirt on autopilot. There was a distant look on the mutant's face and he was obviously a million miles of way. Of course, inwardly he was seething with confusion, uncertainty and even a little bit of fear. He'd let the human get too close. They were actually in a relationship and that presented so many points of exploitation Daken didn't even know where to start on shoring up his defenses and patching holes in his shields.
