Debut!

my wife thinks LJ is kind of scary. she seems to think somebody is going to stalk me. so the people that know me will just know me, and the people that don't will have to ask or something. I don't know why exactly, but here I go anyway :-) She's so busy she probably forgot already!

I finally finished the kotatsu today! That's the japanese under-table heater for warming your feet in stupid hella cold Japanese house. ahem. there, I said it. I could never figure out how the country that gave us Honda Accords with cupholders and the walkman could never get around to making the *&#ing house something other than freezing in the morning. Go figure. locking the ATMs after 6 still seems pretty stupid to me too. but we all have our issues.

Anyway, it's not really traditional, but it works! I had to cut a little hole in one of my carefully-cut cross-pieces for the cord, and it did it rather messily, with a chisel. yeah, whatever. It's underneath a blanket, for pete's sake! Nobody's gonna see it! Besides that, today I left work early thanks to someone! and came home to a pizza. did the thing above, and started browsing around for stuff. I watched a bit torrent thing cited on BoingBoing --it wasJon Stewart on Crossfire--VERY funny. he totally told those Crossfire guys off--and did it so politely. They didn't know how to take it, but obviously didn't get what he was trying to say.  too bad.

After that, I resumed looking for anime episodes!  I finished reading and watching ALL the Love Hina anime, which I recommend.  I know, some people think it's too sappy, and that Keitaro is a loser, but I was moved by some of the anime stories.  Of course, the comics are more..how shall I say...EXCITING (and we all like exciting, right?)--I guess there's only so much you can get away with on TV, even in Japan.  Ok, moving on...

Now I'm on Rurouni Kenshin and Shaman King.  RK is from  one oh Mjk's shirts at work--it's about a wandering ex-samurai 5 years after the Meiji revolution.  He killed a lot of people in the revolution, and wants to atone for it.  He also carries an interesting reverse-blade katana--presumably because wearing a sword was illegal in Japan at that time.  So he skirts the law by wearing a sword that seems useless (of course it isn't REALLY useless--come on, it's a TV show!)

Shaman King is about a kid who's a hereditary shaman, and has moved to Tokyo looking for a ghost to partner up with.  Interesting so far--althou not sure about the phrase he seems to repeat each episdode--"Ore da wa Shaman--Ano you to kono  you musubu mono" (I'm a Shaman!  One you links this world with the next!)  Yeah, the first time was cool and all, but I can see that getting old kinda quick.

Cowboy Bebop and Gravitation also look interesting, but haven't watched any eps yet.

Ok. later.

Oh, I was glad to hear about Chrissy's job--cool!

Ok, later--really..
