Somewhere in Japan, a gaijin is longing for the trappings of America, so...

{sigh}....today is...or was, at least, an I-miss-Japan day.  These come around every so often.

I suppose one of the downsides of having been to a lot of places is you get these "grass-is-greener" flashbacks, where you want to go back and check to see if that other place you lived before may offer a better deal than it did when, for one reason or another, you left.  In the case of Japan, a quick review of the reasons I felt I was better off returning to the U.S. usually helps.  Sadly, even under King Bush II, the deal is better for me here than in J-land.  So for now, I can only reminisce.

Hence the picture below. Yokohama station West Exit, the Tokyu Hotel at my back, the Cial shopping mall to my left, a nameless Japanese Happo-shu in my hand (think malt liquor), standing around after work with other hapless English teachers, watching hapless salarymen, bored taxi drivers, scamming Nigerians, and tired and/or giggling teenagers.  Ahh, yes.  And of course, those little buns with chocolate cream inside.  6 for 100 yen.  I miss those.  Oh, and the tea.  Always the tea.  Ma-chan has heard my whining about the lack of cheap, available, non-sugary tea here at least 1000 times.

Ok, enough of that.  After weeks of waiting for EMule to finish, I finally got Shaman King episode 7.  It was good.  Someday I should try to watch the new english dubbed version.  Eventually.

Oh, I also heard from a friend in Barbados.  Her greeting when we met was 'I don't like Americans".  So of course, we became good friends!  Anyway, when I saw the http://www.sorryeverybody.com/ website, I had to send it.

Ok, time for bed now.
