Well, it wasn't a weekend in Tuscany, but...

A short work week.
That's the best part about Labor Day.
Especially if you spend it sick with the first flu of the school year.

Friday night I went out to Poor Richard's Historic Tavern in Ridgeville, to explore a piece of history and any paranormal activity it might contain. Accounts of that evening exist elsewhere, so I won't rehash here- but suffice it to say, it was the highlight of the weekend.

Saturday morning I went to a meeting, picking up a chip for 20 years' sobriety and then wandered over to Border's to meet my realtor to resign another 6 months. Not that I intend to keep the house on the market over winter; I don't. But that's how long the contract goes so- whatev...

Still no showings for about the past 3 weeks. An average of one a month this year. Last year it was maybe three or four showings a week. Does it matter? Nobody bought the house last year or this year.

Saturday afternoon I rode out to the Mustard Seed with a friend. I was feeling off, just tired and like I could nap. But she was in the mood for company and I went a long to overspend, you know; just to keep my hand in. Not that I needed anything I bought- but it's the Freakin' Mustard Seed, ya know? You don't see that kind of stuff at Tops.

While there, sneezing commenced. And some hacking. Allergies? Yeah, allergies. It's a really bad ragweed year. Everybody says so. We put our stuff into the car and went back inside to go have a late lunch/ early dinner in their restaraunt upstairs.

Nose running was out in front. Around the turn it's coughing. Noserunning is making a fast approach. It's neck and neck: Noserunning and coughing. Now sneezing is coming up from behind. Around the bend it's Noserunning, coughing and sneezing. Noserunning is ahead by a drip- but what's this? It's scratchy eyes gaining on coughing and sneezing! Ladies and gentlemen, this is no allergy- What a cold! It's noserunning, coughing, sneezing and itchy eyes- at the finnish- and.... Noserunning, by a groan!

The rest of the weekend went by in a blur from my sprawl on the couch. I dragged myself upright on Monday to mow the lawns and hack back the rosebush from hell as it tried to overtake all of Lakewood. Then it was back to the couch for me. Nothing on TV on a Labor Day weekend; it's not exactly sweeps week. And did I have any good movies from Netflix? Well, as luck would have it- the third season of 24. The one about the killer virus that terrorists were releasing on Los Angeles. Great.

Tuesday I was still achey, chilled and hot- so congested I could hardly breathe and called in sick to work.
I get back yesterday to find a co-worker has spend Labor Day weekend in Tuscany. WTF?? Is this justice?
