Two Worlds Collide!
Every other Monday, Doodle has a Bar Mitzvah lesson with the Cantor. On his off weeks, he plays with a little boy who has an auditory processing disorder as his charity project. January 30th, he had done his charity thing, so we showed up February 8th for his lesson.
Except there was none. Somehow, when all the scheduling was done, a week had gotten skipped. Zachary was, of course, ecstatic and bolted out of there. I stayed behind to straighten things out with Leslie, his secretary. She's around my age, I'd guess. We go through it all, make sure we're in agreement. And then she says, "By the way, I love your e-mail signature."
For those of you who haven't been lucky enough to get an e-mail from me, my sig is, "Always be youself. Unless you suck. - Joss Whedon".
So I got a bit excited and explained that Joss was my favorite writer and created my favorite TV show, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." I was all set to defend it. Instead she looked at me and said, "I know. It's my favorite too. Have you seen Serenity."
And, ohmigawd, total squee. How David Boreanaz is the most gorgeous thing on the planet (and how we're both watching Bones for the eye candy). How season 2 of BtVS is the greatest season of TV ever and it's all about the B/A. How "Smile Time" was the funniest episode ever. How mad we still are that Angel got cancelled. How BtVS is so deep and how we loved the moral issues it dealt with. How we both sprinkle quotes into our conversations.
I'll be sending her a link to the "These Girls" trailer, because naked DB. What's not to love?
The moral is: Joss love? It's everywhere.
