"The Weary World" Rejoicing by Annakovsky: Read it. Loved it. Loved the sequel. "Seeing Africa" by Huzzlewhat: Read it. Loved it. Started thinking about Africander. Reminds me of a Carpand-Africander story where Xander in Ethiopia (I think) makes a totem of sorts with pictures of Giles, Buffy, Dawn and Willow. Wish I could remember who wrote that. "Spring Break, Sidekick Style" by Perri Smith: Haven't read it. Started it just now. "Here Comes a Candle" by Wiseacress: Bad link. If it's the story I think it is, creepy! "Mine Eyes Dazzle" by Victoria P: Yeah, that's a tear-jerker. I have a bunny about Xander showing up at the funeral and such, with Xander pulling a Chazz Reinhold with Cordy and ending up looking out at the city after dark from Forrest Lawn, but I'm just not writer enough to pull it off. This is good. "Acid Test" by Yahtzee: I read that a while ago. Part of a series where Xander tries every common recreational drug, right? It was funny but I don't think I'd ever rec it. Which is perhaps part of the mindset where comedies never get "Best Picture" from the Oscars. "Skin Deep" by Doyle: My fave of the "Xander and Spike before CWDP" fics is one (I forget the title) which has Xander working with the first and putting in the mind control mojo. This one didn't touch me, maybe because Spike doesn't touch me after "Lovers Walk". Blame my hard heart. "Cuckoo in the Nest" by Lizbeth Marcs: That's a tough one. "Echo" by Jade Okelani: I forgot I read that until I got to the twist. Such a great story. Xander/Anya "Seven Habits of Highly Effective Sex Poodles" by Doyle, "Other Pervert: by Elena B: I love it when Xanya is treated as love and not just kink. "Sunnydale Calling" by nwhepcat: This and "Whisper" are what got me writing. "Limits" by Beneresq: I think I see what you see in this. Just read it today, and I liked it.
I'm with you with Willow, and I wrote something about why she's not as big a draw somewhere. Has to do, I think, with the fact that Xander's issues were torn open in S7 while Willow's were tied up. There's something to write about with Xander, but Willow? Not so much.
The "Comes a Candle" link is hopefully going to be back up by tomorrow, it was working yesterday.
"Acid Test" I suspect is not the story you mentioned. This takes place immediately after the Xanya fight in season 4 where she's convinced they're breaking up. Xander winds up in a very seedy club and someone slips him an acid tab (or, he thinks it's an acid tab). Things get enourmously weird from there on (ie, Xander gets unstuck in time.)
Read it, it reads very much like an episode from season 4. A really, really good episode from season 4. I love the story - Xander is brave, foolish, funny, serious, needlessly thoughtless, incredibly kind - in other words 100% Xander at his best and worst.
If you remember the Spike, Xander season 7 fic let me know because it sounds interesting. I like Doyle's because poor Xander completely misinterprets what's going on. (And I think season 7 would have been a lot more interesting if ME had been brave enough to go here. Even though I would havwe cried like a baby.)
The ones you haven't mentioned are very NC-17 slash, but it's not gratititous. Neither are particularly "nice" stories in any sense of the word.

There is that series, it does exist. And I read this one, although the connection isn't there, I guess.
And if I remember anything about that fic, I'll tell you.
