The Corpse Bride

So, yesterday I saw The Corpse Bride The design itself was stunning. The contrast between the world of the living and the dead was beautiful and often humorous. The song and dance during the wedding preparations was eye-popping, the animation truly reached the level of artistry. And the final image of Emily, turning into butterflies was an image I'll long remember.

But...

On the whole disappointing. I think the characters were much better realized and much more three-dimensional in "The Nightmare Before Christmas". Aside from The Corpse Bride herself, the other characters were either enigmas or caricatures.

The music seemed very derivative of the the themes and motifs used in Nightmare. Plus not enough songs. I think there was a total of four.

I still recommend it as a rental, but not the masterpiece that Nightmare was.
