Damn him. Damn Spike to hell.
He had always been an aggravation, too ready with a fist or a quip.
It didn't matter whether he closed his eyes or kept them open, all he could see was Spike appearing out of nowhere, giving him a slow smirk and pushing him out of the way, as the killing blow meant for him turned Spike to dust.
He couldn't remember what happened next. But the demon lay dead at his feet, his broadsword thrust straight through the eye and back out the head.
All he could do now was curse and weep.
