My delightful Zachary is having a wonderful life, I have to say.
First, thanks to everyone who either financially backed him or just cheered him on regarding his magazine project "Charm City Chinese". He raised all his funding (actually a bit over), so it's full steam ahead! He's putting in crazy hours, but he's loving it.
And that brings me to, the second thing that happened - Zachary was offered his dream job. After graduation, he'll be working for
The Atlantic Monthly magazine. This is a year long media fellowship, offered to approximately 20 people which exposes them to all aspects of the magazine business, both on the creative side and business side. Zachary is the only design major to get offered a spot. Even more impressive, this normally requires one or more interviews and (I believe) selections are made in mid April. Zachary bypassed all of that. The Creative Director of the magazine gave a talk to a junior level class a few months ago. Zachary attended the lecture and then stayed behind to both talk to the CD and let him know how interested he was in working for the magazine. When his resume can through, it apparently went straight to this guy and he announced he didn't need to look at any other portfolios!
I am just so proud of him. He has worked tremendously hard to get to this point and it has really paid off.
